Assure that Public Works maintenance operations are competitive and run in a <br />safe, reliable, and efficient manner. <br />8. Facilitate planning of capital improvement projects to replace, upgrade and <br />maintain city utility and street systems. <br />9. Coordinate work of the division with the Community Development Department, <br />private contractors and other public agencies. <br />10. Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory and judicial mandates, <br />regulations and professional standards. <br />11. Assure that employee development, safety and training programs are designed <br />and successfully implemented. <br />OTHER JOB RELATED DUTIES <br />1. Manage and coordinate activities at the Municipal Services Center, including <br />space allocations, security, yard maintenance and cleanliness, and building and <br />grounds utilization. <br />2. Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned. <br />JOB RELATED AND ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS <br />Knowledge of: <br />Public administration and local government operations. <br />Principles and practices of public works administration as applied to the <br />construction and maintenance of public works facilities, utility systems and fleet <br />maintenance. <br />Principles of organization, administration, budget and personnel management. <br />Materials, equipment, procedures and practices used in the design, <br />construction, operation, maintenance and repair of utility systems and streets. <br />Safe driving principles and practices. <br />Ability to: <br />Oversee maintenance and field operations of utilities, streets and fleet. <br />Evaluate operational effectiveness in public works field operations; plan and <br />implement improvements. <br />
