FA-11 <br />figure an impressive demonstration of tangible leadership. The Nucleus Fund when <br />completed will offer the following advantages: <br />1. It will give the Board an opportunity to set an example, which will <br />show the way for the community and local businesses. <br />2. It will demonstrate that Redwood City PAL has been realistic in setting <br />the objectives for th capital component of $4.5 million, <br />3. It will set the tone for remaining major gifts efforts, and thus, the <br />campaign. <br />4. It will inspire every major gift prospect subsequently solicited. <br />The building of a Nucleus Fund will occur under the general direction of the President of <br />the Redwood City PAL Board of Directors and under the specific direction of the Steering <br />Committee. The organization chart in Appendix I illustrates the Nucleus Fund <br />organization and also frames the overall leadership structure that will emerge during the <br />Nucleus Fund/ Advance Gift phase of the Campaign. <br />The Nucleus Fund will cease once $240,000 is raised. As of 9/18/2003, the fund was at <br />$125, 000. <br />c. Organizing for the Advance Gifts Phase <br />Below is listed the brief description of each component of the campaign and the <br />summary of the responsibilities and objectives to be assumed by each committee <br />chairperson. <br />CAMPAIGN COMMITTEES <br />(This is a summary. Some information has been omitted for the sake of brevity) <br />The duties if the Chairperson(s) are as follows: <br />1. Serve as Campaign Chief Executive Officer. <br />2. Enlist chairpersons and other top volunteer leaders for the principal <br />functioning units of the campaign organization. <br />3. Make a significant gift to the Campaign to commensurate his /her own ability. <br />4. Spearhead and /or accompany Capt. Warner in cultivating and soliciting visits <br />with top -level prospects. <br />5. Assume specific responsibility for the personal and/ or corporate <br />commitments for members of the Board and all committees. <br />6. Act as primary spokesperson, with Capt. Warner, for the Campaign. <br />7. Serve as keynote speaker at the Campaign kickoff and other critical <br />Campaign events. <br />8. Provide inspiration and motivation for volunteer leaders to fulfill campaign <br />commitments. <br />9. Review and approve all major strategy and marketing plans for campaign. <br />3 <br />
