DES:dft:mg] ~/23/95 (052/38) <br /> 0 R I G I N A L 3/28/95 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 12443 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF <br /> AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND THE <br /> BELMONT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT REGARDING JOINT USE <br /> OF SANDPIPER PARK SITE <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City owns approximately 9.79 <br />acres of undeveloped land in the Redwood Shores Area of said City <br />(also located within Redwood City General Improvement District <br />No. 1-64) reserved for park purposes, known as the "Sandpiper <br />Park Site"; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said Redwood Shores Area is located within, and <br />served by, the Belmont Elementary School District (the "School <br />District"); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the public health, welfare and necessity require <br />the establishment of additional park and recreation facilities <br />and the establishment of K-5 elementary classroom school <br />facilities to serve the residents of the Redwood Shores Area; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the School District and the City share the common <br />power of providing public recreational facilities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the joint exercise by the District and the City of <br />the aforesaid power, combined with the establishment by the <br />District of a K-5 elementary classroom school facility using, in <br />part, the Sandpiper Park Site will most effectively address the <br />needs of the public; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the aforementioned combined uses will require an <br />additional parcel of real property adjacent to the Sandpiper Park <br />Site, comprising approximately 1.25 acres, commonly known as the <br />"Egret Lane Parcel"; and <br /> <br /> <br />
