03/19/2012 <br /> Exhibit A <br /> CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> ASSISTANT PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR - <br /> MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS <br /> DEFINITION <br /> To plan, organize and direct the operations and activities of the Public Works <br /> Maintenance Division including equipment maintenance, traffic operations, sewer <br /> system maintenance, street system maintenance, and water system maintenance and <br /> operations. <br /> SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> Administrative direction is provided by the Community Development Director. <br /> Responsibilities include direct and indirect supervision of supervisory, professional, <br /> technical and support staff. <br /> EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES <br /> 1. Direct operations in Utilities Water and Wastewater Operations & Maintenance <br /> Divisions, Right-Of-Way Division and Fleet & Municipal Services Center <br /> Management Division. <br /> 2. Work with management personnel, interpreting policies of the City Councii and <br /> City Manager, establishing department priorities, monitoring division <br /> performance, identifying action which will increase the division's level of <br /> performance. <br /> 3. Ensure responsible and accountable management of the City's water and sewer <br /> enterprise funds, including timely replacement of systems. Prepare, justify and <br /> secure approvals for consumer rates and service charges. <br /> 4. Prepare reports for the City Manager and City Council on Public Works <br /> Maintenance activities, accomplishments and challenges. <br /> 5. Participate in the development and administration of the department operating <br /> and capital improvement budgets. Monitor division expenditures throughout the <br /> budget cycle. <br /> 6. Evaluate operations and develop programs to implement orderly maintenance <br /> and operations of City equipment, vehicles, street and utility systems. Assure <br /> that cost effective technology is deployed to meet strategic objectives, industry <br /> standards, and to enhance staff prodactivity and customer service. <br /> RESO. # 15174 <br /> MUFF # 903 <br />
