advceacy effort in [he communiry and with our partner instiwtions. As we've shared this initia[ive over the
pas[ 18 months, we have broadened our coalition to dozens of partner agencies, congrega[ions such as [he
Unilarian Universalist Fellowship of Redwood Ciry, United Methodist Church and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel,
Caiada College, the Salva[ion Artny, and Koshland fellows. By leveraging RWC 2020's existing initiatives
and our wrren[ struc[ure, which already includes policy makers from the fields of health and human
services, govemment, and education, we are well positioned to lead policy level activities that will promote
immigrant integration and more responsive sys[ems in the communi[y. This projec[ dces no[ directly address
the Founda[iods Objective I, but several of our partners (Intemational Institute of the Bay Area, Legal Aid
Society, Community Legal Services in Fast Palo Alto) provide legal services to immigrants through our
other initiatives and will complement this e(fort.
Dces your work contain any lobbying or advocacy? Please Describe. (600 charac[ers)
Yes. Our Immigrant You[h Ac[ion Team will carry out communi[y awareness campaigns on immigrant
youth issues and DREAM Act legislation. We will bring our local Ambassadors and RWC 2020 policy
makers together to advance policy recommendations based on the issues that arise from this work. We
expect that the immigrant leadership that results and the messages we share will also shape the ways in
which our partner institutions help generate greacer active citizenship and over time, economic self-
sufficiency and vitality in our community.
Outcomes
What are the main outcomes for which you are requesting support? Following what we expect to be a successful public launch of our "Redwood City Together'
initia[ive, we plan to implement a large-scale community-wide messaging campaign that will highligh[ [he
strengths and con[ributions of immigrants [o our community and crea[e opportunities for immigran[s and
members of the receiving community to build [rust and positive relationships in order to seed long-[erm
organizing and advocacy efforts.
Outcome 2
CIVIC ENGAGEMENT OF IMMIGRANTS IS PROMOTED AND ACTIVATED AS WELL AS
AMONG MEMBERS OF THE RECEIVING COMMUNITY. Through a series of leadership
developmen[ opportunities for immigrants and other members of our community, we will have developed a
strong cohon of community Ambassadors that will communicate [he message of our ini[iative and invite
other members of the community to take action in issues they care about in the communiry.
Outcome 3
IMMIGRANT YOUTH HAVE A POWERFUL AND INFLUENTIAL VOICE IN LOCAL AND
STATE ADVOCACY EFFORTS.
