6.1.G. - Page 1 <br /> RE PO RT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the Cit Mana er <br /> June 25, 2012 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Peninsula Celebration Association's 74th Annual Fourth of July Celebration <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Authorize execution of a letter permit for the Fourth of July Celebration sponsored by <br /> the Peninsula Celebration Association, the Redwood City Parks, Recreation and <br /> Community Services Department, the Redwood City Education Foundation, and Let's <br /> Talk Events. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The Peninsula Celebration Association (PCA), in partnership with Let's Talk Events and <br /> the Redwood City Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department (PRCS), has <br /> requested permission to conduct the annual Fourth of July Celebration. The annual <br /> PRCS-sponsored "Fun Run" will be conducted along the parade route from 8:45 am to <br /> 9:45 am. PCA's traditional parade will commence at 10:00 am and last until <br /> approximately 12:30 pm and the arts & crafts fair and festival will be held from 9:00 am <br /> to 5:00 pm. Parks, Recreation and Community Services will sponsor live musical <br /> entertainment in Court House Square from Noon to 4:30 pm. Let's Talk Events will <br /> sponsor a classic car show from 8:00 am until approximately 4:30 pm. <br /> On July 4t", the parade route and line-up area will be reserved from 6:00 am until 2:00 <br /> pm. The arts and crafts fair and festival area will be reserved at 5:00 pm on Tuesday <br /> July 3rd through 8:00 pm on Wednesday July 4t". Court House Square will be reserved <br /> from 11:30 am to 5:00 pm. The car show area will be reserved at 7:00 am through 3:00 <br /> pm. <br /> As described by PCA in its letter and permit application dated April 10, 2012 <br /> (Attachments 1 and 2), the parade will be conducted in the areas detailed on the <br /> attached map (Attachment 3). Parade staging areas require road closures throughout <br /> the Centennial Neighborhood. The festival will be conducted on Middlefield from <br /> Broadway to Marshall, Hamilton from Marshall to Middlefield, Jefferson from Marshall to <br /> the entrance to the Jefferson parking structure, and Broadway between Main Street and <br /> Winslow. The Let's Talk Events car show will be conducted in the 2600 block of <br /> Broadway between EI Camino Real and the railroad tracks. Live musical entertainment <br /> will take place within Court House Square. Minor alterations to the parade route and <br /> festival areas may be required to facilitate these events.
