AIRPORT LAND USE COMMISSION/PLAN <br /> <br />PURPOSE: <br /> <br />State law requires every county with public use airports, to establish an airport land use <br />commission to address airport/land use compatibility issues (i.e. aircraft noise issues, <br />height of structures and safety issues). A comprehensive Airport Land Use Plan (CLUP) <br />for each public use airport in the County is prepared and adopted. There are three public <br />use airports in San Mateo County: Half Moon Bay Airport (general aviation), San Carlos <br />Airport (general aviation), and San Francisco International Airport (commercial service <br />airport). <br /> <br />BENEFITS: <br /> <br /> · Maintains compliance with State law, re: airport/land use compatibility planning. <br /> · Educates local planning staffs, elected officials, and others about airport/land use <br /> planning issues and concerns at each airport in San Mateo County. <br /> Provides a current Comprehensive Airport Land Use Plan (CLUP) to evaluate <br /> proposed local agency land use policy actions in the vicinity of the airports in San <br /> Mateo County. <br /> <br />C/CAG BOARD ROLE: <br /> <br /> · Function as the designated Airport Land Use Committee for San Mateo County. <br /> · Adopt and revise as needed, a Comprehensive Airport Land Use Plan for San <br /> Mateo County. <br /> · Review and comment on land use developments that fall within the parameters of <br /> the Plan. <br /> <br /> <br />
