8.A. - Page 286
CD-maureen Kiordan
From: Dan and Pam Ponti [pontifamily@gmail.com]o behalf of Daniel Ponti [ponti@astound.net]
Sent: Monday, June 18, 201211:17 AM
To: CD-Maureen Riordan
Cc: GRP-Planning Commissioners; Richard Grassetti; Ferris Lewald; Susan Brandt-Hawley
Subject: Statement on Finger Ae. project aes#hetics
Attachments: AestheticsStatement06-12.pdf
Hi Maureen -
The comment letter on the Finger Avenue Final EIR by Richard Grassetti, which was emailed to
you this morning, references a signed statement by 75 nearby residents expressing concern
about the impacts of the McGowan Finger Ave. DeveZopment on the aesthetic character of the
neighborhood. These statements (minus one that we receied late) were referenced in our DEIR
comment5 and included as Attachment D, that was emailed to the City an Sept. 6, 2611.
Howeer, no direct reference to these statements were acknowledged in the Final EIR, nor were
any copies of the statement included in the FEIR along with the rest of our DEIR comments and
attachments. In case there was same problem with the transmissi.on of thase statements to the
City back in September, I am sending these to you ta ensure that they are on file.
TFe statement in the attached file was prepared by the Finger Averue Pride [ommittee, and
shown to nearby residents along with the project plans. Of the 77 individuals that were
contacted, a21 but 2 agreed to sign the statement. Those that c#o se not to, "did not want to
be invol.ved".
General Pan Palicy BE 5.1, pertaining to Built nviranmert Goal 5 - Retain the unique
character of the iiistoric Influence Low Density Neigfborhoods (of whicf Finger Ave. is a
part), states the following: "Require that new construction, adcfi tions, renoaions, and
infi2l development be sensitive to neighborhood context, historic deelopment patterns, and
building form and scale (for example, second stories, detached ga rages, setbaks, enhanced
front entrances}." The statements in the included attachment expresses the neighbarhood-wide
opinion that the proposed development is not in compZiance with t his important General Plan
policy.
Sincerely,
aan Ponti, FAPC
1
