8.A. - Page 287 <br /> 5tatement on Finger�yenue Aesthetics <br /> I am a Finger Avenue resident nr neighbor,who walks,bicycles ar otherwise enjoys the <br /> Finger Avenue strQetscape. l have seen the plans for the McGowan nine-lot devetopment, <br /> and conclt�de that it will substantia�ly degrade the existing rrisual character and guality <br /> of the site and its surroundings. <br /> What is imQartant�esthetically about my neigl�borhood is t�te semi-rural character oF <br /> the north side oF Finger Avenue,wi�t� many hon�es ser far back from the street,The <br /> appearance of large amounts of open space with mature,old growth trees,pi•ovides a <br /> strikfng baclydrop to the homes.The conCrast between the north sidE af Fingei•Avenue <br /> and its sauth side,with its many guaint, early 20�h centUry bungalows and cottages,is <br /> samething that's unigue to Redwood Ciry and treasured by its residents. <br /> ��camples af how the Finger Avenue Project significantly degrades the aesthetics of our <br /> neighborhoad are; <br /> • Canstruction af two homes with wide two-story facades set bacic the min,imum <br /> allowable distance from t�e street.There are no t�ouses that large se�that close <br /> to the street anywhere in our neighborhood. <br /> • Nowhere else an Finger Avenue are homes thfs large placed on lots this small. <br /> • Ali of the hames are of similar s#ze and all two-stoty,as opposed ta the n�ix of <br /> home sizes anc# heigt�ts that are representative oFthe north side of Finger <br /> Avenue. <br /> • Most of these nine homes will be viewab�e from the public street.
