6.1.E. - Page 22 Taft Community school programs reached 80% of Taft students in 2010-11. About 54% of students participated in extended learning for an average of over 90 days of attendance for participants (Exhibit 10a). Extended learning participants included the highest rate of FRPL participants of any program category at 84%but a slightly lower rate of English learner students at 74%. Family engagement programs reached 40%of students at Taft in 2010-11, with parent education programs having the highest level of participation among family engagement programs at 28%of enrolled students and average attendance of 16 days through the school year. Participants in family engagement had generally similar characteristics to participants in other strategy areas. Over 51% of the students at Taft accessed support services, and these students were about 76%FRPL recipients and 78% English learners. Students with no program participation were more likely to be male, less likely to receive FRPL, and had slightly higher 2009-10 CST proficiency rates compared to program participants. Among after school survey participants, Exhibit 10b:After School Survey at Taft,2011 (who were mostly students with high program participation), 74% of after school Challenge 64% participants reported feeling cared for in their after school programs and 85% Confidence 85% reported that staff use practices that promote mutual respect.
