C, ity of Redwood City Proposal No. 03-187
September 18, 2003 Page No. 7

evaluate their engineering characteristics. Tests will include various types of strength
testing, Atterberg Limits tests, and moisture/density measurements, as judged appropriate.

7. Perfom~ engineering analyses based on the results obtained from the above tasks, as required
to develop conclusions, opinions, and recommendations regarding the above-stated purpose
of our services.

8. Prepare six copies of a report summarizing our findings and including a site plan that shows
the location of our borings, the existing piezometers, and the previous borings drilled by
Shannon & Wilson; the logs of the borings; a generalized geologic cross section through the
site; the results of our laboratory testing; and our conclusions, opinions, and
recommendations.

SCHEDULE

We anticipate the exploration equipment can be scheduled and mobilized to the site within one to
two weeks after receiving your authorization to proceed. The field exploration will require about
two days to complete, and the laboratory testing will require an additional 7 to 10 working days to
complete. Preparation of a final report will then require roughly three additional weeks to complete.
Thus, we anticipate that completion of our report may require about five to seven weeks from your
initial authorization.

FEE AND BREAKDOWN

We propose to perform the above services on a time-and-expense basis in accordance with the
attached "Schedule of Charges' and "Terms of Agreement." On this basis, we estimate the total fee
for the above-described scope of services will be on the order of $17,100.

The following table presents a breakdown of our estimated fee for the above-described services:

1. Subsurface Exploration
Permit from County Environmental Health Div. + 15% 1 $500 $500
Subcontractor to re-develop 2 existing wells + 15% 5 hrs $110 $550
Hollow stem drilling subcontractor + 15%
8 hrs $190 $1,520
(2 borings, and install 1 piezometer)
Portable drilling subcontractor + 15%
(1 boring at center of slide area, in back portion of 8 hrs $165 $1,320
lots, and install piezometer)
