3.13.2 A Before blasting, surface imperfections such as sharp fins, sharp edges, weld spatter <br /> and mill or fabrication marks shall be removed from the surface by the contractor. Areas <br /> shall be spot cleaned by power wire brushing or orbital sanding using 80 grit or finer to <br /> achieve a smooth, contoured finish. Only stainless steel pads or abrasive sanding disks shall <br /> be used. Abrasive disks used to remove discontinuities shall not have been used previously <br /> on other metals, or have been used to remove copper pigmented paints. <br /> 3.13.2 B The required finish is achieved by a glass bead blast with the following <br /> characteristics: <br /> -Glass bead size: #8 using Designation No. AGB-18 (U.S. Sieve size 70-100), or best alternative/best <br /> practice <br /> -Air pressure: 80 psi <br /> -Nozzle tip: 7/16 inch <br /> -Nozzle type: ceramic <br /> -Nozzle angle: 75 degrees to 90 degrees to the surface <br /> 3.13.2 C After glass beading, surface imperfections that remain(e.g., sharp fins or edges. <br /> Weld splatter and mill or fabrication marks) shall be removed from the surface. All equipment will be shipped directly to vendor.
