Recommendation: <br /> Adopt a Resolution Vacating Chemical Way, a City Right-of-Way Dedicated and <br /> Accepted for Public Use. <br /> RESOLUTION No. 15073 AUTHORIZING CITY TO VACATE CHEMICAL WAY IN THE <br /> CITY OF REDWOOD CITY PURSUANT TO PART 3 OF DIVISION 9, CALIFORNIA <br /> STREETS AND HIGHWAYS CODE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> M/S Foust/Bain to approve the recommendation and to authorize the Interim City Manager <br /> to sign any documents, upon review by the City Attorney. Motion carried 6-0 by <br /> electronic vote with Vice Mayor Aguirre absent. <br /> B. Public Hearing Regarding Conveyance of 1'-Wide Strips along Chemical Way <br /> and Maple Street in Accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding <br /> Regarding Replacement Jail Facilities Befinreen the City and County of San <br /> Mateo. (401) <br /> Ms. Thompson, City Attorney, explained that the City is proposing to transfer certain one <br /> foot wide strips of property that front 20 and 80 Chemical Way and that is belongs to the <br /> City. The City is proposing to transfer the property to the Redevelopment Agency (RDA), <br /> the RDA can then, using its special powers, convey the property to the County in order to <br /> prevent blight that the City believes would be associated with the potential jail site in <br /> downtown Redwood City. She explained the specific conditions related to the conveyance <br /> of the property. She reviewed the recommendations, proposed resolutions, and added <br /> the amendment that the City Manager be given the authority to execute any documents, <br /> subject to City Attorney review and that the City Manager be authorized to waive certain of <br /> the conditions contained in the MOU if necessary to effectuate the purposes of the <br /> agreement. <br /> Recommendation: <br /> By resolution: <br /> 1. Council Approving and Authorizing Conveyance of the City Strips Property to <br /> the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Redwood City. <br /> RESOLUTION No 15074 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING CONVEYANCE OF THE CITY STRIP PROPERTY <br /> FRONTING 20 AND 80 CHEMICAL WAY TO THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE <br /> CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> Mayor Ira opened the Public Hearing. There was no public comment. <br /> M/S Seybert/Gee to close the Public Hearing. Motion carried 6-0 by unanimous voice <br /> vote with Vice Mayor Aguirre absent. <br /> Several Council Members spoke about the importance of this action to the City and to the <br /> community in relocating the jail site out of the downtown area.
