Ordinance No, 114 Page 2 width of twenty feet, adjoining the northerly line of said permanent way of said Company between the westerly line of Winslow Street (formerly Fourth Street) and the center line of Main Redwood Creek; and WHEREAS, Said Southern Pacific Railroad Company for itself and its successors and assigns, has made application to the Board of Trustees of the Town of Redwood City, for a franchise for the term of fifty years to con- struct, maintain and operate railroad tracks upon said strips of land belong- ing to said Town of Redwood City as aforesaid, adjacent to said permanent way of said Company; now, therefore THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF TH4i TOWN OF REDWOOD CITY DO ORDAIN AS FO1LT,OWS: SECTION 1. The right, privilege and franchise is hereby granted to the Southern Pacific Railrcad Company, a railroad corporation and to its successors and assigns, for the term of fifty years to construct, maintain and operate rail- road tracks upon that certain strip of land in the Town of Redwood City, ad- joining the northerly line of the permanent way of said Company, said strip having a uniform width of fifteen feet and extending from the center line of Pine Street to the easterly limits of the Town of Redwood City and upon that certain strip of land in said Town adjoining the southerly line of the per- manent way of said Company, said strip having a uniform width of fifteen feet and extending from the center line of Pine Street to the center line of Willow Street; and also upon that certain strip of land in said Town adjoining the northerly line of the permanent way of said Company, said strip having a un- iform width of twenty feet and extending from the westerly line of Winslow Street (formerly Fourth Street) to the centerline of Main Redwood Creek. SECTION 11. This franchise is granted upon the following conditions, viz: 1 --Said Southern Pacific Raolroad Company shall permit the Town of Redwood City and the inhabitants thereof, using jointly with said Company the northerly 182 feet of said strip of eighty feet as described, extending from the westerly line of Winslow Street (formerly Fourth Street) to the easterly limits of the Town of Redwood City, such use by the said Town of Redwood City and the in- habitants thereof shall be for street purposes only.
