. Building and Land Ownership
o Agency does not own entire building.
o Agency plans on selling the building or land in com ing years.
o Agency does not pay electricity bills.
The City shall be provided with fill site assessments for all sites that are not elim inated from
consideration due to one of the aforementioned reasons.
Task 2.1.4: System Sizing and Representative Design
Energy Solutions shall evaluate a range of possible system sizes and recommend a minimum,
maximum, and optimal system size to the City. The optimal system size will be appropriate for
the site load and available space for the PV system, both with and without the recommended
efficiency improvements. Energy Solutions shall likely utilize PV*Sol, a solar design software
from The Solar Design Company, to assist in system sizing and layout. The recommendation for
the optimized system shall include the following:
• System location and layout, orientation, and azimuth,
• Map of the annual solar access within the site boundary,
. Mounting recommendations,
. Assumed wiring length,
• Representative equipment(modules and inverters) used to model system.
In determining the recommended minimum and maximum system sizes, Energy Solutions shall
take into consideration, the following factors:
Energy Use
• Existing energy use: If time of use (TOU) data is available, the system sizing can be
further optimized.
. Reductions in energy usage: If the City chooses to avail itself of the proposed optional
energy efficiency service, this section will also include a discussion of the potential new
energy use profile assuming the energy efficiency measures are implemented. It is
advised that the City reduces load, then install s a smaller—and less expensive—
renewable energy system that can offset the remaining on-site demand.
Shading Constraints: Energy Solutions shall recommend strategies to minimize shading
constraints, including suggested tree trimming/removal.
. Obstructions on the roof or proposed mounting surface (e.g., ducting, HVAC equipment,
vents, taller sections of the building itself, etc.).
ATTY/AGR/2012.091/ENERGY SOLUTIONS
REV:07-23-12 VR
