ATTACHMENT NE 6.1.F. - Page 6
COUNCIL POLICY
CITY OF REDWOOD CITY
c. Double check valve installation is contingent upon the absence of
interconnections. "Interconnections" are defined by the California Department
of Public Health as:
"A physical piping connection between the on-site [ground or creek water]
piping system and the public water piping system. This can be a
permanent connection, or a temporary, removable connection."
d. Reduced Pressure Principle Backflow Devices will be required above grade at
properties having interconnections with ground or creek water irrigation
systems. There will be no exception to this requirement.
e. Backflow devices, installed below or above grade, will be located as close as
feasible to the water meter as determined by the City.
IV. Inspection in Lieu of Backflow
a. Properties with inoperable groundwater wells have the option of yearly
inspections in lieu of installing backflow devices. "Inoperable" is defined as a
well that is without plumbing, pump, or motor, whether in working condition or
not.
b. Inspections shall be conducted once annually by City staff at the backflow test
rate set by the City. The test fee will be applied to a user's utility bill following
said inspection.
Cross Connection Control Customer Assistance Program August 10, 2012
