Beginning in 2010, the Silicon Valley Community Foundation began to fund
core operations for our Information and Referral Program. Grants have ranged from
$5,000-$40,000 with recent funding for core operations at $20,000 per year.
This year's Silicon Valley Community Foundation Safety Net Request for Proposals
included additional funding of $500,000 from the San Mateo County Food and Shelter
Program bringing the total available for San Mateo County to $1 million. As such,
agencies were encouraged to submit collaborative proposals for higher dollar amounts.
The Fair Oaks Community Center submitted a collaborative proposal which includes
three components:
o The Fair Oaks Community Center Information and Referral Program providing
food assistance, homelessness services, and homelessness prevention ($30,000
total to include $20,000 towards core operations and $10,000 to hire Public
Allies Human Services Specialist through the summer of 2012);
