We feel�he repart is <br /> accurate, and depicts an understanding and appreczation by the members of the Grand Jury <br /> regarding issues relating ta Emergez�cy Planning for dam or levee failures in oux Co�my. <br /> As the Director of the Area O�fice af Emergency Services and Horz�eland �ecurity, I fi�lly <br /> support the findings of t�e Civil Grand Jury and appreciate their assistance in alerting residants <br /> and�isitors to the very real, and potential danger of a c�ar�► or levee failure occurring in San <br /> Mateo County. <br /> Recommendations: <br /> The Grand Jury recommends that the Sheriff instruct th� Office of Emergency <br /> Services/Homeland Security to: <br /> �. Cooperate with af�ectad cities and dam and levee awners to develap credible Emergency <br /> Action Plans by March 31, 200$, for responding to a prospective dam or levee failure, <br /> degradatzon or breech. These Emergency Action P1ans should be prepared and sub�nitted <br /> imnraedia�ely upan completion to the 4�f ce of Emergency Services/Hameland Security, follawed <br /> by an�nual updates.
