4. Demonstrate a strong commitment to seeking solutions when concerns/problems
arise and not casting blame.
Given the complexity and challenges with any collaboration, the following outlines a
resolution format that all parties agree to follow. The purpose of the resolution format is
to ease conflicting messages, focus on mission of the work and reinforce effective
collaboration practices.
CONFLICT MANAGEMENT PROCESS
Step 1: Direct problem solving between involved parties
When project staff inembers recognize that an interpersonal conflict exists, they should
take steps to address the concern directly with the other person/persons involved and
try to work out a mutually acceptable resolution. If the attempt to work directly with the
other person does not result in a satisfactory resolution, the following steps are
recommended.
Step 2: Staff inember problem solving process
Staff inembers should bring all issues of concern to the attention of any partnering
Manager or supervisor for initial discussion and problem solving. T'he Manager should
notify PCRC of the existence of these issues of concern and the steps being taken to
resolve them. These steps should be taken in a timely and respectful manner. If
resolution is not reached at the site, the Executive Director of PCRC should be involved.
Step 3: Involvement of agency Directors
If the previous steps do not result in the resolution of concerns,PCRC's Executive
Director and the Executive Directors from RWC2020 and CARON should work together
with involved staff inembers to address and resolve the problem.
At any time in this process, any involved party should feel free to request the
involvement of a neutral third party to facilitate communication and problem-solving.
PCRC will provide staff inembers with information about how to access the services of a
neutral third party.
FUNDING FOR COLLABORATION: (please note attached budget and budget
narrative)
Redwood City 2020:
Allocate funds from SVCF grant to fund the position in the amount of$34,770 to be paid
in two installments, one at the time this agreement is signed and the second payment by
April l,2013.
PCRC will invoice Redwood City 2020/City of Redwood City to receive these payments.
San Mateo County Sheriff's Office CARON Program:
Allocate funds from SVCF to fund the position in the amount of$36,770 to be paid in
two installments, one at the time this agreement is signed and the second payment by
Apri11,2013.
PCRC will invoice the Sheriff's Office to receive these payments.
Discussion of future years will commence before the end of the 2012-2013 project year.
4
