CGM: jp: 8/31/77 <br /> (� <br /> ORI GINAL <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 7895 SEP121977 <br /> RESOLUTION APPROVING A PROCEDURE FOR DETERMINING <br /> DISTRIBUTION OF FEDERAL AID FOR SAFER OFF-SYSTEMS <br /> (SOS) ROAD FUNDS <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the Federal Aid <br /> Highway Act of 1976, funds have been made available to counties <br /> and cities for the construction, reconstruction and improvement <br /> of any toll-free road not on any federal-aid system which is <br /> under the jurisdiction of , and maintained by, public authorities <br /> and which is open to public travel; and <br /> WHEREAS, Section 2530 (c) of the Streets and Highways Code <br /> of the State of California states that the distribution of <br /> funds among cities within each county shall be implemented and <br /> determined by agreement between a county and the majority of <br /> cities within such county, which cities must include a majority <br /> of the population located within such county; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the City of Redwood City <br /> that these federal funds which have been made available to the <br /> County of San Mateo for the improvement of county roads and <br /> streets of the City of Redwood City be utilized to improve the <br /> safety of such roads and streets; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works is the most competent <br /> individual to recognize safety hazards, high hazard locations <br /> and roadside obstacles on or adjacent to various selected streets <br /> within this City; and <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has been informed that procedures <br /> and criteria for determining the distribution of said federal <br /> funds must be submitted to the Department of Transportation of <br /> the State of California prior to any such federal funds being <br /> obligated for the abovementioned purposes; <br />
