EXHIBIT "A"
SCOPE OF SERVICES. TIME AND FEE SCHEDULES
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Inspection, testing and evaluation of cathodic protection for the recycled water system in
Redwood Shores.
SCOPE OF SERVICES:
Consultant shall provide all required labor, material, and equipment to inspect, test, and
evaluate conditions at 45 (forty-five) test stations in the Redwood Shores area of Redwood
City to determine the adequacy of existing cathodic protection components and system.
Inspection and testing shall be sufficient to determine if fittings meet industry criteria for
corrosion protection, if buried wires are cut or otherwise damaged, and to project the
remaining useful life of the anodes.
Consultant shall use data sheet templates to record anode current outputs, on and instant
off potential measurements during the evaluation. The templates will document the condition
of the systems and any adjustments or corrective actions made to the systems. The
condition of test stations and other facilities will be documented with digital photographs and
included in the survey report. The consultant shall clean the test station terminals to lower
the circuit resistance allowing more protective current to flow from anodes in areas that were
not providing sufficient protection.
Task 1 - Document Review and Project Manaqement
The consultant shall review the available drawings, reports and test station data for the
fittings with cathodic protection. The consultant shall lead the project kick-off ineeting at the
city's office prior to the start of field testing.
Task 2 - Field Testina
The city's cathodic protection system includes galvanic anode and impressed current type
installations on water and wastewater structures. The cons ultant shall perform test in
accordance with NACE International Standards.
Test procedures associated with the evaluation will include the following when appropriate:
a. The consultant shall measure pipe-to-soil potentials with the anodes connected to th e
terminal board and temporarily disconnected (polarized potential) from the terminal
boards. The potentials of each fitting will be measured in test stations with several
fittings connected to one test board.
b. The consultant shall measure open circuit potential of anodes
c. The consultant shall measure each anode current output and test station com bined
current output
d. The consultant shall perform visual assessment of the test station components and
note any damage
e. The consultant shall replace severely corroded term inal board hardware
ATTY/AGR/2012.150N&A CONSULTING ENGINEERS
REV:09-10-12 VR Page 4 of 6
