that it will be important to connect this area to the rest of Redwood City and plan for that <br /> bridging. <br /> Another Council Member wanted the opportunities and plans to be realistic and <br /> grounded in the realm of compatibility. This Council Member also noted that the Port of <br /> Redwood City is part of the equation and this exemplifies that there are varied <br /> components that have to be considered. This Council Member said that Federal and <br /> State Authorities also need to be brought into the loop early on the process. Vice Mayor <br /> Gee noted this is not a linear process and there will be side trips but the purpose needs <br /> to be moved along. He believes that it is a process and it will evolve as it progresses. <br /> Public Comment <br /> Tania Sole, President of Redwood Creek Floating Community Association, expressed <br /> interest in engaging all parties on the plan into the next century. She wants to <br /> participate with the entire community to enjoy the area and plan the area. <br /> Lee Callister, resident living on Redwood Creek in Docktown, expressed appreciation <br /> for this series of discussions on the Inner Harbor as a wonderful opportunity to satisfy <br /> the needs of the landowners and the City, and to create a water gateway for the public. <br /> He spoke in favor of community involvement as many made a considerable investment <br /> with their floating homes and they welcome the opportunity to be engaged in the <br /> process. <br /> Nancy Radcliffe, a Planning Commissioner and resident, spoke about the Downtown <br /> Precise Plan and the Downtown Task Force. She commented on how a group of 15 <br /> people shared their vision of what downtown should look like and urged Council to <br /> follow in those footsteps and create a task force to this end. <br /> James Jones, a resident close to the center of this area owns a floating home, <br /> expressed excitement with this process. He invited anyone to come by and check it out, <br /> and opined that it is a tremendous jewel for the Precise Plan. He spoke in favor of <br /> people talking and working together with debates, round tables, facilitators, and the <br /> importance of the process for stakeholders without separating key from primary <br /> stakeholders. He has a challenge with that characterization. <br /> Doug Karlson, representing BAIC (Bair Island Aquatic Center) on Maple Street works to <br /> promote and expand human-powered recreation on the bay, said this area is the best <br /> place to do it. He expressed excitement in being able to participate, values their <br /> relationship with the City, and they look forward to a strong outcome. <br /> Mayor Aguirre clarified that Council does not intend to place a different value on key <br /> versus primary stakeholders. <br /> David Meallum spoke about cleaning up the Inner Harbor and noted that the creek is <br /> about 20-feet under the concrete outside City Hall, so the creek is not far.
