that there needs to be a connection from the harbor to downtown such as a walkway
and he thinks this process is in good hands with this City Council.
Clem Molony opined that all the ideas Council has brought forth tonight are outstanding.
He said there is only one concern left on his list regarding unclear zoning and
incompatible uses.
Tom Hays, a resident of Docktown Marina and a father of two young kids, spoke
positively about living on the water every day, seeing wildlife, and how he is a
stakeholder with his life savings invested in the house even if he is not a property
owner. He spoke in favor of the plan since capital upgrades are needed to make it
more special. He also expressed thanks for the for 4th July fireworks this year.
Jerry Pierce, a 30-year resident, spoke positively about discovering the value and
richness of this area with diversity and a wide range of things people can do on the
water. He spoke in favor of thinking locally and acting globally in regards to ferries,
housing, retail, bay trail, the Precise Plan, recreation, businesses, harbor seals, and the
hope for the creation of a task force with involved stakeholders for an improved
connection to downtown.
Jeff Dunn, Commodore representing the Peninsula Yacht Club, believes their building is
iconic and there is great, positive community there with the cleanup and preservation of
the creek. He expressed appreciation in being involved and opined being connected to
downtown would be fabulous and he wishes more people would get out to see this
jewel.
Dr. Bell said that staff will come back with a plan in September and discuss the specific
area. He also noted that the primary and key stakeholders terminology is merely to
show that staff wants to cast the net really wide. The framework will be brought back
and the list of stakeholders. The Mayor thanked all those present tonight.
(This is a summary of the discussion.
