5. SPECIAL ORDER(S) OF THE DAY <br /> A. Proclamation: Recognizing "Yes on Measure W" Supporters: Julie <br /> Guaspari, Co-Chair, Michele Haussler, Co-Chair, and Margaret Marshall, <br /> Co-Chair by Alicia C. Aguirre, Mayor <br /> All Council Members thanked the recipients for the impact this action will have on the <br /> community and the future of our society. The recipients thanked the community for the <br /> vote of support and the votes that made this a reality. They also thanked Council and <br /> the community for this unexpected honor. The Council was moved by the legacy of <br /> making this community's future better due to the involvement of these individuals. <br /> Mayor Aguirre announced that the School District is looking for applicants for the <br /> Measure W Oversight Committee and applications can be downloaded online. <br /> B. Proclamation: No Texting While Driving Proclamation - Shiyama <br /> Clunie, Area Manager, AT&T External Affairs, San Mateo County/Palo Alto <br /> Ms. Shiyama Clunie, with AT&T accepted the proclamation and thanked the Council for <br /> the opportunity to bring awareness to this matter. Ms. Clunie shared statistics regarding <br /> the dangers of texting while driving and asked that people avoid this practice. Mayor <br /> Aguirre thanked Ms. Clunie for bringing this issue to light. <br /> C. Recognition of Company Bike Challenge Winners: Andrew Ness, <br /> Senior IC Design Engineer with Proteus Digital Health and Bryn Dole, Co- <br /> Founder and Ann Richards, Content Editor, of Blekko by Jeffrey Gee, Vice <br /> Mayor <br /> Vice Mayor Gee recognized that three companies were from Redwood City, and finro of <br /> the three could be present tonight. He noted this is a worthwhile cause and thanked the <br /> companies for participating in these efforts and for supporting employees, who rode to <br /> work. <br /> D. Swearing In Ceremony of a Planning Commissioner - Silvia <br /> Vonderlinden, City Clerk <br /> City Clerk Vonderlinden swore in Kevin Bondonno, a recent re-appointee to the <br /> Planning Commission. <br /> 6. PUBLIC COMMENT AND CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> Sheryl Munoz-Bergman, on behalf of the International Institute of the Bay Area (IIBA), <br /> spoke about their partnership with the Fair Oaks Community Center and the U.S. <br /> Citizenship & Immigration Service (USCIS) to host a naturalization oath ceremony for <br /> 21 new citizens on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 2:00 pm.
