6.1.B. - Page 16
meeting shall be scheduled with City staff after review of the preliminary design study submittal.
The goal of the scheduled meeting shall be to arrive at consensus on the design elements and
layout prior to proceeding with the 65% Initial Design.
TASK 4— INITIAL DESIGN (65% DESIGN SUBMITTAL)
Following preparation of the Preliminary Design, and with the City's approval, Consultant shall
proceed with the Initial Design and the preparation of the improvement plans and specifications.
Consultant assumes the work under this task shall consist of design of a circular steel tank with
a tiered retaining wall system; design of a concrete tank (whether circular prestressed or
conventionally reinforced rectangular) is addressed under a separate, optional work task.
Specific tasks shall consist of the following:
1. Consultant shall prepare for the sixty-five percent (65%) complete
construction drawings consisting of plan views, profiles, cross-sections,
construction notes, demolition plan, pipeline plan and profiles, detailing of
major components, construction notes, utility connection points,
specifications (CSI format) outline, construction cost estimates,
construction schedule, details, catalogue cuts and product literature for
major equipment, and engineering calculations. Prepare and submit draft
pump station and tank control strategy.
2. Consultant shall perform local SCADA system design and provide draft
local SCADA strategy/programming report which discusses PLC
programming requirements and responsibilities.
3. Consultant shall submit contract documents to California Department of
Public Health (CDPH) for review at the 65% review level and incorporate
comments to the 100% design submittal to pursue "permit to operate".
4. Consultant shall perform initial constructability review.
Five (5) sets of the sixty-five percent (65%) plans, specification outline, and Engineer's Estimate
shall be presented to the City for review. A marked set will be returned along with City staff s
comments and/or request for clarifications to Consultant for revision. One meeting shall be
scheduled with City staff after review of the 65% submittal prior to proceeding with the 100%
Final Design Submittal.
TASK 5— FINAL DESIGN (100% DESIGN SUBMITTAL)
Consultant shall perform the final design task, as follows:
1 . Incorporate 65% Design Submittal review comments. Prepare 100%
Design Submittal consisting of complete construction documents including
drawings, specifications and cost estimates.
2. The 100% Design Submittal shall consist of demolition plan, site grading
and piping plan, general and construction notes, connection details,
electrical details, structural details, technical specifications, and estimate
of construction costs. The design calculations shall consist of final
engineering calculations, miscellaneous technical data, maintenance
considerations and catalogue cuts for major equipment.
3. Submit final control strategy report and final (tested) SCADA/PLC program.
4. Perform final constructability review.
5. The 100% Design Submittal shall be ready for signature and submitted to
the City for review and approval.
