Subtask 4. San Francisco Duskv-footed Woodrat Survev
Woodrat houses were not found on the site during preparation of the EIR, but the site contains
suitable habitat, and woodrats may have established residence in the interim. MIGrecommends
surveying for woodrat houses now, so that a woodrat house removal plan can be executed in late
summer/early fall, which is the appropriate time of year to move the houses, even if vegetation on
site will not be removed until Spring 2018. While it may be possible to move woodrat houses in
March, that plan would rely on unpredictable weather conditions and is not recommended. The
reason to survey now is because a woodrat house relocation plan has to be submitted to CDFW for
approval prior to house relocation (Task 5, below).
MIG will map all woodrat houses within 50 feet of areas to be disturbed by the project using GPS and
will identify which houses would be within the construction zone that could not be protected by a
buffer. If woodrat houses are found, MIG will implement Task 5, below. A memo documenting the
results of the survey will prepared for City review, as appropriate.
Subtask S. San Francisco Duskv-footed Woodrat House Buffers and/or Relocation Plan (Contineencv
Task
If woodrat houses are found, MIG will determine which ones can be protected by a buffer and which
ones are required to be moved, and will establish the work zone buffer, in coordination with the
construction foreman. For the houses that need to be moved, MIG will consult with CDFW and
prepare a relocation plan.
The scope of work does not include implementation of the woodrat house relocation plan; MIG can
provide a separate scope of work for woodrat house relocation, if necessary. For information
purposes, the approximate cost to relocate up to ten (10) woodrat houses is $5,000.00 including
materials, labor, reporting, and follow up monitoring.
Subtask 6. Field Marking of Invasive Plant Species Locations
This task is included in the event that services are needed to identify the invasive plant species that
need to be removed in accordance with Measure BIO -6. This task entails walking the site, flagging
plants/areas for invasive species removal, and recording the location of those areas on GPS.
Subtask 7: Site SDecif c Health and Safetv Plan (HSPI
MIG will update its health and safety plan to reflect site-specific measures, and will provide a copy on
demand to demonstrate safety compliance.
Subtask 8: Proiect Management
MIGhave allocated budget for communication and coordination with the project team members,
contractual matters, budget review and management, and other administrative matters.
Assumptions:
1. Site Access. This scope of work assumes that the client will assure reasonable access to the
project site and that the areas of disturbance are delineated so that the biologists can
determine how close bird nests or woodrat houses are to areas that will be affected by
construction activities. It assumes MIGwill be informed of any persons that its biologist will
need to contact in advance of or while visiting the site, ensuring all gates or other access
points are unlocked, and that site conditions are safe and secure.
2. Project Information. The scope of work assumes that the client will provide sufficient
information about the project to perform the surveys. Such information may include and is
Page 11 of 23
REV: 08-16-17 PR
ATTY/AGR.Amendment No. 1/Infrastructure Engineering Corporation - CA Tank
