not limited to survey marking areas of construction disturbance, project plans; and
information on removal or trimming of trees or other vegetation, and other construction
activities. If active nests or woodrat houses are present MIGwill request to meet with the
project foreman, and that site personnel be informed of the need to avoid the nest/house.
3. Vegetation Removal. This scope of work assumes that the vegetation that is required to be
removed for the project will be removed in Fall 2017 outside of the nesting bird season. If it
has not been removed the nest surveys will take longer, and the chances of having multiple
nests to monitor will be higher, which may result in the need for a budget amendment.
4. Meetings. This scope of work does not include time for meetings with the project team.
Attendance at meetings can be provided on a time and materials basis with prior approval.
5. Agency Consultation. MIG has allocated one hour for consultation with CDFW in case active
bird nests are found, one hour for consultation regarding bats, and one hour if woodrat
houses are found (total of 3 hours). MIGwill bill only for the time spent. If additional time for
consultation is required, a budget augment may be needed.
6. Woodrat House Removal. This scope does not include woodrat house removal. It is estimated
that removal of up to 10 woodrat houses would cost $5,000 including materials, labor,
monitoring, and reporting.
7. Active Nest Monitoring. This scope of work assumes five follow up visits to monitor nest
activity. MIGwill bill only for time spent. If additional visits beyond five are warranted, we may
request a budget amendment. If construction is delayed more than five days and an additional
survey is required, we will inform IEC and request a budget amendment to complete that
survey.
8. Invasive Plant Species Removal: This scope of work does not include the removal of invasive
plant species, only the mapping and demarcation in the field.
Schedule:
The monitoring schedule depends in part on the project schedule.
• Nesting bird surveys: An initial survey is planned since the geotechnical explorations will be
conducted during the nesting period. The pre -construction survey needs to occur within 5
days prior to the start of construction activities that occur February 1 -August 31.
• Bat roost survey: the initial survey needs to occur within 14 days prior to any vegetation
removal on the project site at any time of the year. Subsequent surveys may be needed within
14 days of the start of construction if structures that could house maternity roosts are present
and would be removed March 1—August 1.
• Woodrat house survey: It is recommended that the woodrat house survey be completed now,
so that a plan to move woodrats, if present, can be submitted to CDFW and the houses can be
relocated in late summer.
• Invasive Plant Species Mapping: Invasive plant species mapping and demarcation should be
completed shortly before removal is scheduled to occur. It is easiest to map the species when
they are in bloom, but it is not required. It is easiest to remove the species when the ground is
soft, such as after rainfall. The schedule for mapping will need to be coordinated with the
schedule for removal.
Task 14— Environmental Services (SCA Environmental, Inc.)
SCA Environmental, Inc. will provide hazardous materials consulting services to include soils testing for
naturally occurring asbestos. SCA will perform the following:
REV: 08-16-17 PR
ATTY/AGR.Amendment No. 1/Infrastructure Engineering Corporation - CA Tank
