EXHIBIT "A" <br /> SCOPE OF SERVICES AND TIME SCHEDULE <br /> PROJECT DESCRIPTION: <br /> The City of Redwood City's fiber optic communications network runs in city owned conduits serving four <br /> buildings: City Hall, Fire Station 9, Police Department and Public Works Senrices,with Fire Station 9 as <br /> the"hub" and the remaining buildings, City Hall, Police Department, and Public Works Services are the <br /> "spokes". Each spoke has a 12 strand multi-mode fiber(6 pairs) running from the hub at to the spoke's <br /> termination points within each building. <br /> SCOPE OF SERVICES: <br /> CONSULTANT shall provide investigation of existing fiber optic network, design and cost estimating <br /> services necessary to develop design plans, cost estimates, bid drawings, specifications and <br /> construction documents to replace the City of Redwood City's fiber optic communication network from <br /> the current multi-mode (orange) 12 strand fiber with a single-mode (yellow) 24 strand fiber, utilizing the <br /> existing conduits and providing end point termination in the respective data centers and Main Point of <br /> Entry (MPOE) areas. CONSULTANT shall provide up to two designs options and corresponding cost <br /> estimates for replacing the existing Multi-Mode fiber with Single-Mode Fiber inclusive of relocating the <br /> hub from Fire Station 9 to City Hall. Upon selection of design, CONSULTANT shall prepare bid <br /> drawings and specifications. <br /> GENERAL. <br /> A. CONSULTANT shall pertorm all services in accordance with the terms of this AGREEMENT and to <br /> the satisfaction of the CITY. <br /> B. All of the services to be furnished by the CONSULTANT under this AGREEMENT shall be of the <br /> professional standard and quality with prevail among licensed engineers of similar knowledge and <br /> skill engaged in related work throughout California under the same or similar circumstances. All <br /> documentation prepared by the CONSULTANT shall provide of a completed Project that conforms <br /> to all applicable federal, state, and local codes, rules, regulations, and guidelines which are in force <br /> at the time such documentation is prepared. <br /> C. The CITY shall furnish all known drawings of the existing city owned fiber optic nefinrork including <br /> conduit routing, roadway infrastructure, building schematics and related construction documents of <br /> Cable N and city's fiber optic network conduits being relocated in conjunction with the Kaiser <br /> Hospital expansion project. <br /> BASIC SERVICES. <br /> CONSULTANT's Basic Services shall include,without limitation,the following: <br /> TASK 1: CONSULTANT shall review the existing drawings of: the fiber optic network including conduit <br /> routing, roadway infrastructure, and building schematics as provided by City; and related construction <br /> documents of cable N and city's fiber optic network conduits being relocated in conjunction with Kaiser <br /> Hospital expansion project. <br /> TASK 2: CONSULTANT shall provide visual inspection and documentation of the existing city owned <br /> fiber optic network consisting of, but not limited to: confirm/identify location of conduit runs, number of <br /> conduits, size of conduits, number of strands in existing conduit, locations of pull boxes amount of <br /> available space as identified in inches in existing conduits with fiber, empty conduits, identify and locate <br /> non-city owned communication conduits in shared trenches (where possible),space availability at end <br /> point terminations at respective data centers and MPOE areas, and other information necessary to <br /> recommend a solution for the design of a complete system.
