�, <br /> - i - <br /> 1) All general plan elements should be reviewed in the course <br /> of their annual review for consistency with the goals and <br /> objectives of the Safety Element. <br /> 2) The Seismic Safety and Transportation elements should be <br /> made fully compatible with this element at the time of their <br /> first annual review. <br /> B. Capital Improvement Program <br /> 1) The capital improvement program of the City should specifi- <br /> cally earmark safety programs for those departments (such as <br /> Public Works, Police and Fire) most appropriately concerned. <br /> 2) Capital Improvement Program proposals relating to safety <br /> measures should mandatorily be reviewed and commented upon <br /> by all appropriate departments before going to the City <br /> Manager. <br /> C. Ordinances and Regulations <br /> 1) When the Redwood City Zoning Ordinance is comprehensively <br /> reviewed, it should be reviewed for reinforcement of the <br /> objectives of the Safety Element, and should specifically <br /> regulate uses in the same zoning district that are incompatible <br /> from a safety standpoint. <br /> 2) Setback and fencing requirements of the zoning ordinance <br /> should be reviewed for fire, traffic and personal safety <br /> - aspects. <br /> 3) Subdivision and site development regulations should be re- <br /> viewed for implementation and reinforcement• of the objectives <br /> of the Safety Element, especially as they relate to geologic <br /> and seismic safety factors. <br /> 4) Site development regulations should be revised to require <br /> similar levels of geologic and soils investigation as pro- <br /> posed in investigative levels A through C of Table 1 in the <br /> Seismic Safety Element. <br /> S) The latest Uniform Fire Code and the latest Uniform Building <br /> Code should be expedititously adopted by the City of Redwood <br /> City after review and recommendations for desirable local <br /> modifications. <br /> 6) The local building code should be reviewed for the desir- <br /> ability of mandating certain classes of fire or smoke detec- <br /> tion early warning devices in order to promote increased <br /> structural and personal safety without increasing the <br /> general taxpayer's tax burden for fire safety services. <br /> D. Inspection Programs <br /> 1) The City should on an annual basis fund a continuing program <br /> of joint safety inspections on an area by area basis with <br /> participation by representatives of the Building and Fire <br /> Departments. <br />
