As part of the negotiations for development of the site, the
developer will assist the City to identify parking spaces and means to inform the public
of their locations.
Staff is expanding the scope of the parking counts to include a broader analysis of
downtown parking. The consultant will also identify parking opportunities and suggest
changes for the short term; constructions affected parking supply, as well as identify
longer term parking solutions. It is anticipated that some short term solutions may affect
time limits and rates for certain parking areas of the downtown. Longer term solutions
could involve construction of additional parking garage spaces.
Perhaps most importantly, staff is now requiring of all development projects a
construction worker parking plan. This will be coupled with a requirement for all
development teams to meet monthly with City staff to provide construction schedules in
an effort to identify potential road use and other construction conflicts that could spill off
the project site and into the functioning of the downtown.
ALTERNATIVES
Not applicable.
FISCAL IMPACT
There are no fiscal impacts associated with this report.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This report is not a project under CEQA.
G
BILL EKERN
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

ROBERT B.
