The City has identified six (6) potential flow monitoring locations which
Consultant shall inspect for hydraulic suitability. Consultant shall take pictures, videos,
measurements, draw sketches and make notes of each potential site. If an initial location is
determined to be unsuitable, Consultant shall recommend alternate locations and/or alternative
equipment. Consultant shall also identify the rain gauge site when locating flow monitoring sites.
Consultant shall submit all potential flow monitoring and rain gauge locations to the City for
approval. All information collected for each location shall be as required for the Task 5 report.
Task 2 - Flow Monitorinq
Flow monitors shall be placed in manholes approved by City. Consultant shall furnish, install,
maintain and remove all flow monitoring equipment. Flow metering equipment shall be the area
velocity type for open channel flow. Consultant shall select a suitable meter after reviewing
specific site conditions. The length of the flow monitoring period shall be as requested by the
City. Open channel flow monitors shall be capable of ineasuring both depth and velocity. Each
monitor shall include data storage capabilities with the capability for one minute intervals.
Consultant shall be responsible for providing all equipment. After completion of monitoring and
data collection services, Consultant shall be responsible for removing flow monitoring
equipment.
Task 3— Rainfall Monitorinq
Consultant shall install one (1) continuous recording rain gauge that shall be used throughout
the monitoring period. Consultant shall provide this equipment and will maintain it once per
week throughout the duration of the project. Loggers, one-channel event recorders, and tipping
bucket rain gauges shall be used. These units shall be accurate to within 0.01 inches. The
clocks in the memory units shall be synchronized with the flow meter digital clocks to provide for
accurate RDI analysis. Consultant shall remove the rainfall monitoring equipment at the end of
the monitoring period.
Task 4—Weeklv Maintenance
Each monitor shall be visited at least once a week for calibration, data retrieval, review, and
maintenance. Flow monitors shall be replaced and/or relocated in the event they are not
performing properly. Consultant shall maintain records documenting calibration and
maintenance, as required for the Task V report.
