I

EXHIBIT ,.,
Draft 12.9.04
CITY OF REDWOOD CITY

GENERAL PLAN VISIONING WORKSHOPS
PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK

Contents

Project Overview Page 1
Work Tasks Page 1
Staffing Page 3
Tentative Schedule Page 3
Cost Estimate & Terms Page 3

Project Overview

Bottomley Design & Planning will work with Redwood City staff and the community-at-large to
explore basic General Plan policy issues and themes. A ~eries of community visioning workshops
will be facilitated to promote community input, encouraging participants to imagine "best futures"
for the city. Up to five workshops are anticipated, each potentially with a different place-oriented
theme, such as "neighborhoods" or "streets and corridors." When completed, the visioning process
will provide a clear picture of community concerns and goals that will be used to guide the City's
work on the General Plan Update.

Photographs, diagrams, plans, and other materials will be used to support a basic "like/don't like"
discussion format, illustrating issues and options for different community areas and/or conditions.
Workshop input willbe recorded, transcribed, and submitted to City staff for distr~ution and/or
posting on the City's web site, along with supporting graphic materials as appropriate. The structure
for individual workshops could vary. However, it is assumed that most will be a "one-room" format;
i.e., multiple facilitators for break-out groups will not be required.

The Work Tasks listed below include up to five (5) staff working meetings and one (1) Planning
Commission and/or City Council progress review session.

Work Tasks

Work tasks described below parallel those on the attached staffing and cost estimate spread sheet.
Task 1: Background/Project Start Up.

a) Project Scoping, Contract, Etc. - Finalize work scope and contract with City staff.

b) Staff Orientatbn/Issues Review Meeting- Review key General Plan issues, workshops schedule,
formats, and content, and available background materials.

c) Photograph City Conditions, Issues, Locations - As needed to support community discussion at
workshops.
