EXHIBIT "A" <br /> <br /> PHASE II ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT <br /> <br /> SCI proposes to perfo~'m a preliminary environmental site assessment to evaluate whettmr <br /> hazardous materials are 1) prescnt in building construcuon materials, 2) ur, ecl/stored on~site or 3) <br /> present in soil and groundwater beneath thc subject parcels. In general, thc assessment will <br /> include tho £oilowing tasks. <br /> <br /> Task i - Site Reconnaissance <br /> <br /> SCI will conduct a reconnaissance of the parcels (inclusive of the entire Mezes Plaza Area~ to <br /> v/anally check for: <br /> <br /> 1. Underground t~-ks, wells or other conditions which ma), represent environmental' <br /> risks. <br /> <br /> 2. Storage or use of hazardous materials, and <br /> <br /> 3. Indications of surface contamination. <br /> <br />,: Task 2 - Agency Records Review <br /> <br /> SCI will review building, f~ and environmental health department files for the project Iots. The <br /> files will be checked for documented environmental concerns. In ~dition, SCI will review <br /> enviror~mental case files for adjacent parcels, <br /> <br /> Task 3 - Building Materials Survey <br /> <br /> SCI will re,in a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIZI) to ~ thc p~'esence of haz~dou~ <br /> material~ in ex/sting building consuuct/on r~ateri~Is. Representative ~amples of building <br /> materials 'will b~ obtained, by the CIH and analyzed for lead and asbestos, A visual impection <br /> w,211 also be performed by the CIH ~o determine whether PCB containing materials may also be <br /> present. <br /> <br /> Task 4 - Field Investigation <br /> <br /> SCI will drill test borings to approximately 15 feet below the ground surface (bgs) in areas <br /> outsid~ of the existing structure.
