These amounts are broken down as follows: Sworn Police Personnel $ 31,579.00 Lost Meter Revenue @ $3.00 per day per meter $ 3,330.00 Miscellaneous equipment and maintenance $ 2.000.00 Total $ 36,909.00 The area of parking ordinance suspension and road closure, on Middlefield Road, will support forty-two parking spaces for medium and large media vehicles. Shared equally by each permit holder, a fee not to exceed $1765 per month per space would cover costs associated with the establishment and maintenance of this area for media use. It will prevent street blockage, traffic disruption, and interference with commerce throughout the downtown area. For these calculations the Police Department staff assumes a 70% occupancy rate of both designated parking areas for the press. Police Department staff has determined it can provide for the safety and security of the area by staffing two police officers on overtime during those days and times when court is in session. If it is later determined that the need for this level of staffing is less, Police Department staff assigned will be reduced and the monthly parking fee would be correspondingly less the following month. Approximately 25 spaces have been made available at the Bradford Street media designated parking lot. The cost for construction of the parking lot is estimated at $7,500. The proposed monthly fee of $110, due on the first of the month for this lot is recommended beginning March 1, 2004 on a calendar-month basis. Assuming a 70% occupancy rate and a four-month long trial, this parking fee will reimburse City construction costs associated with this parking lot. We have every reason to believe that the media and press representatives will abide by these parking regulations. If we find this not to be true, and excessive complaints are received, we will return to Council and request additional resolutions to address those complaints.
