7.B. - Page 130
Chapter 8
Impacts Found Not to be Significant
As described in the 2007 FEIR,the project was determined not to have the potential to cause
significant adverse effects on five issue areas: mineral resources, agricultural resources, recreation,
population and housing, and archaeological and historical resources. These issue areas have been
reviewed and discussed below as they relate to the proposed modifications.Since the certification of
the 2007 FEIR,Appendix G of the CEQA Guidelines has been amended to include Forest Resources in
the discussion of Agricultural Resources.Similar to agricultural resources,it has been determined
that forest resources would not be impacted by implementation of the proposed modifications.
Mineral Resources
As described in the 2007 FEIR (page 8-1),the project site consists of a fully developed urban
environment. No mining operations have occurred or are planned on the project site.Further, the
project site is not located within an area considered to be a significant source of aggregate mineral
resources by Redwood City,San Mateo County,or the California Division of Oil,Gas,and Geothermal
Resources. No mining activities occur near the project site. The conditions of the project area have
not significantly changed since the 2007 FEIR.Therefore,no new impact would occur.
Agriculture and Forest Resources
Agriculture Resources
The project site has been developed as a Costco warehouse since the early 1980s and is located in a
fully developed urban environment. The California Department of Conservation San Mateo County
Important Farmland 2008 map (Department of Conservation 2008) identifies the site as urban and
built-up land.As a result, the proposed modifications do not have the potential to convert Prime
Farmland,Unique Farmland,or Farmland of Statewide Importance to non-agricultural uses.
The project site is currently designated for urban uses and designated as Commercial-Regional and
IR by the City General Plan and Zoning Code, respectively. No agricultural land uses and no property
under a Williamson Act contract exist in the vicinity of the proposed modifications. The proposed
modifications would not conflict with existing zoning for agricultural use or a Williamson Act
contract.No new impact would occur.
No agricultural land uses, forest land,or timberland exist in the vicinity of the proposed
modifications, and the proposed modifications would not involve other changes in the existing
environment that, due to their location or nature, could result in conversion of Farmland to non-
agricultural use or forest land to non-forest use.No new impact would occur.
Addendum No.2 to the Environmental Impact Report for September 2012
the Redwood City Costco Wholesale Project 8-1 ICF 00154.12
