7.B. - Page 131 Redwood City Chapter 8.Impacts Found Not to be Significant Forest Resources The project site is an existing fueling center within a fully developed area.The project site is currently zoned IR,which provides for low-intensity industrial uses. No land zoned as forest land or timberland exists within the vicinity of the project site.Therefore,the proposed modifications would not conflict with existing zoning for forest land or timberland. No new impact would occur. Recreation The proposed modifications would not include any additional housing and would not generate any permanent new employees,and therefore would not affect the use of neighborhood and regional parks or other recreational facilities such that the proposed modifications would lead to the substantial physical deterioration of any recreation facilities or require the construction of new recreational facilities.The existing uses at the Costco warehouse and fueling center do not generate demand for parks and recreational facilities,there are no parks on or near the project site,and the proposed modifications would not require parks and recreation services.No new impact would occur. Population and Housing As shown in Table 8-1,the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) estimates that the year 2010 population of Redwood City was 76,100 people.ABAG data also provides that the population of Redwood City grew by 1.3 percent(which is approximately 380 households) over the 5-year period between 2005 and 2010.This growth rate is generally consistent with the County as a whole, the population of which grew by 1.6 percent during the same time period. ABAG projects that the population of Redwood City will increase 4.9 percent(an increase of 3,700 people) and the number of households will increase by 4.6 percent(an increase of 1,300 households)between 2010 and 2015,similar to the County's projected 4.6 percent population growth rate.The City and County ABAG population and housing growth estimates are provided in Table 8-1.
