6.1.D. - Page 2
Ten (10) bids were received on December 5, 2012 and are summarized in the table
below:
Bidder Bid Amount
1 Suarez and Munoz Construction, Inc. - Hayward $ 516,500
2 McNabb Construction - Lafayette $ 527,800
3 American Asphalt - Hayward $ 590,000
4 Redgwick Construction Corporation - Newark $ 603,100
5 Romkon, Inc. — San Francisco $ 621,450
6 CRW Industries - Scotts Valley $ 630,706
7 Guerra Construction Group — Santa Clara $ 631,400
8 Golden Bay Construction - Hayward $ 648,500
9 Rodan Builders - Burlingame $ 693,500
10 Cuminsky Construction Corp. — San Francisco $ 785,000
Landscape Architect's Estimate $ 495,000
The low bid of $516,500 submitted by Suarez and Munoz Construction, Inc. is 4.3%
higher than the landscape architect's estimate. It appears that the landscape architect's
estimate slightly underestimated the cost for upgrading the electrical work, irrigation and
drainage. Overall, based on ten bids, staff believes that the low bid is reasonable and
recommends awarding the contract to Suarez and Munoz Construction, Inc.
ALTERNATIVES
Council may reject all bids and direct staff to reduce the scope and redesign the project.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds in the amount of $375,000 are available in the 2012/2013 Capital Projects Fund
under Mezes Park Renovation Project. Funds in the amount of $250,000 are also
allocated from the Restroom Replacement Program and $60,000 from the Playground
Replacement Program, for a total available budget of $685,000.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
As the lead agency, City of Redwood City has determined that the Mezes Park
Renovation Project meets the CEQA exemption criteria as set forth in Sections 15301
("Existing Facilities"), 15302 ("Replacement or Reconstruction") and 15303 ("New
Construction or Conversion of Small Structures"). Furthermore, this project has been
designed compliant with the City's Engineering Standards and accepted landscape
architectural practices.

CLAUDIA OLALLA,ASLA
SENIOR LANDSCAPE DESIGNER
