He opined these are big issues at Pete's
Harbor with flooding in January, and that BCDC had communicated not wanting to see
any application unless the state lands issue is resolved first. He commented that he
also would like to meet with any Council Members over coffee.
Tal Raveh said she lived in Pete's Harbor with Isak Lerner until they had to leave and
expressed her surprise that the development was approved and that Council would
consider blocking access to the public and using the entire area for development. She
asked for consideration and said that if they had known this was state land and not
private property, nor under the jurisdiction of Redwood City, they probably would not
have left and she questioned why they lost their residence.
Rick Drain said he is no longer a resident here and opined that there was too little
consideration with significant issues of high water, cleanliness, and information being
glossed over. He opined that there is a need to really look at things, do the homework,
and made sure facts are shared.
Leslie Webster, a member of Save Pete's Harbor, voiced her disappointment and
frustration and opined that it was not until they spoke to the state that they have been
heard.
City Attorney Thompson reported out on a Closed Session meeting from January 14,
2013 and how Council had authorized her to initiate litigation for the City, acting as the
Successor Agency, and challenge the decisions from the Department of Finance
regarding funding for affordable housing. He expressed
uncertainty if any public ferry would want to compete with a private one.
CITY COUNCIL: Waive reading of the consent calendar and the full text of ordinances
and resolutions, and approve the Consent Calendar items.
M/S Seybert/Ira to approve the Consent Calendar as presented. Motion carried
unanimously by electronic vote with Council Member Bain absent.
Council Member Pierce commented on Item 6.3B to express her thanks to her
colleagues for their work on establishing the RHNA (Regional Housing Numbers
Allocations) and how that will help with work on the housing element and working to
increase our housing supply at all levels.
JOINT CITY COUNCIUSUCCESSOR AGENCY BOARD January 28, 2013
MEETING MINUTES PAGE 4
