She also spoke about timeline processes regarding
State Lands and BCDC (San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development
Commission) and she hopes that any decision will include all the residents.
Wendy Stone spoke about her concerns regarding affordable housing and the impacts
on her son who had to move to Mountain View. She said her son works fulltime, goes
to school fulltime, is using his school loans to pay for housing, and has insufficient funds
leftover for food or gas on his own.
Brenda Hattery thanked people for being here and commented that Redwood City is a
destination for boaters and they have reached out to city employees and the Planning
Commission on how to improve recreational boating. She opined that they do not want
to see a delay in regards to recreational boating and they would like others to
acknowledge Redwood City as a recreational boating destination.
Tom Linebager, a 45-year resident, commented on a local painter's union and their
problems with the Pauls Corporation regarding a promise to pay prevailing wages did
not happen for the project on Mel's Bowl and how out of state workers were brought in.
He spoke against the project and opined there is a lack of sensitivity to water and
electrical problems; a lack of support for working people so that they can live here; a
lack of low income housing with certain projects; and, that they need Council and local
agencies to help support workers, so that they can live and work locally.
Alison Madden commented on recent challenges in trying to reach people since
September and said that they would like to meet with each Council Member over coffee
to talk about the issues regarding Saving Pete's Harbor. She noted that she has done a
Public Records Act request with both the city and the state, and that one email
suggested that the city has rights out there and she questioned why this is not used for
public space as opposed to development. She cited the General Plan and keeping live
aboards there and commented that the state lease was to Pete Uccelli doing business
as Pete's Harbor, and not, as has been reported in the media, in Paula and Pete
Uccelli's names.
James Lee, representing Occupy Redwood City, in speaking about the appeal
(regarding Pete's Harbor) said: there are public safety and harassment concerns at the
site; a lack of clarity on what will happen to those living there; a lot of them are leaving
JOINT CITY COUNCIUSUCCESSOR AGENCY BOARD January 28, 2013
MEETING MINUTES PAGE 3
