(KAI) has collected updated <br /> intersection traffic volume data on Middlefield Road adjacent to the existing Redwood City Costco <br /> site. This memorandum presents these updated traffic volumes as well as current intersection levels <br /> of service for the requested intersections of: <br /> ■ Middlefield Road/Woodside Road <br /> ■ Middlefield Road/Willow Street <br /> ■ Middlefield Road/Charter Street <br /> Manual intersection traffic volume counts were conducted at the three intersections for the weekday <br /> p.m. peak period and Saturday midday peak period in May 2012. Specifically, the counts were <br /> collected on Tuesday, May 15t" and Saturday, May 19t" while school was still in session so they <br /> account for the full range of traffic demand experienced in the area under existing conditions. The <br /> weekday counts were conducted during the evening peak period (4 to 6 p.m.). The Saturday midday <br /> period (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.) was also collected as it's known to be the busiest time for traffic to and <br /> from the Costco site. <br /> TRAFFIC VOLUMES <br /> The traffic volumes from the weekday p.m. peak hour and Saturday midday peak hour were <br /> summarized and rounded to the nearest five vehicles per hour as shown in Figure 1 for the weekday <br /> p.m. peak hour and Figure 2 for the Saturday midday peak hour.
