Table 6 summarizes the wait times observed at the
existing fuel station during the weekday p.m.and weekend midday peak periods.
Table 6 Existing Redwood City Costco Gasoline Facility Wait Times
Weekday PM Wait Time Saturday Midday Wait Time
Peak Period Peak Hour Peak Period Peak Hour
Average WaitTime 4:41 3:29 7:34 8:22
Minimum WaitTime 0:16 0:16 3:09 3:09
Maximum WaitTime 11:10 8:35 14:16 13:26
95th Percentile WaitTime 9:23 6:37 11:51 11:55
*Wait time is the total time(min:sec)a vehicle waited in queue from the time they pulled up to and stopped at the back of queue
to the time they pulled up to the pump
As shown in Table 6, the maximum wait time observed was 14 minutes and 16 seconds, which
occurred during the weekend midday peak period. The average wait times varied from 3 minutes and
29 seconds during the weekday p.m. peak hour to 8 minutes and 22 seconds during the weekend
midday peak hour. The longer wait times during the weekend midday peak compared to the weekday
p.m. peak are consistent with the longer queues observed during the weekend midday peak hour.
The observed wait times do not include time at the pump actually fueling a vehicle, which was
collected separately to understand how long fuel station members spend actually at the pump once
they reach the front of the queue. Table 7 shows the pump times during the weekday p.m. and
weekend midday peak hours and peak periods.
Kittelson&Associates,Inc. Boise,Idaho
