A 6.4.A. - Page 53 <br /> B. Street and Pathwav Connectivity. New development shall maintain and enhance <br /> pedestrian, bicycle, transit, and vehicle connectivity with a hierarchy of streets and <br /> pathways, consistent with the street typolo�y identified in the Redwood City General Plan <br /> (Fi�ure BE-14). Primary pedestrian access to buildin�s shall be from the sidewalk. <br /> C. Pedestrian-Oriented Desi�n/Pedestrian Access. The desi�n of new proiects shall promote <br /> walkabilitv and connectivitv to include desi�n and orientation standards such as: <br /> 1. Enhanced Streetscapes. Streets shall be enhanced with streetscape elements, includin� <br /> but not limited to landscapin� and pedestrian amenities such as benches, pedestrian- <br /> scaled li�htin�, trash enclosures, and bicvcle stora�e. <br /> 2. Internal Connections. A svstem of pedestrian walkwavs shall connect all buildin�s on a <br /> site to each other, to on-site automobile and bicvcle parkin� areas, and to anv on-site <br /> open space areas and pedestrian amenities. <br /> 3. Internal Pedestrian Walkwavs Width. Internal walkwavs shall be a minimum of six feet <br /> wide where located adiacent to anv common open space areas. Internal walkwavs <br /> elsewhere on the propertv shall be a minimum of four feet wide and paved with <br /> permeable materials, unless walkwavs are located near swimmin� pools or in heavilv <br /> trafficked areas. <br /> 4. Li�htin�. Li�htin� shall be incorporated alon� sidewalks or other pedestrian walkwavs to <br /> enhance the pedestrian environment and provide for public safetv. Li�htin� shall be low <br /> mounted, downward castin� so as to reduce li�ht trespass onto adiacent properties. <br /> 5. Connections to Primary Street. Connections between on-site walkwavs and the public <br /> sidewalk shall be provided. An on-site walkway shall connect the primary buildin� entry <br /> or entries to a public sidewalk on each street fronta�e. Such walkway shall be the <br /> shortest practical distance between the primary entry and sidewalk, �enerally no more <br /> than 125 percent of the strai�ht line distance. <br /> 54.4 Open Space Re�ulations <br /> A. Residential Open Space Required. Outdoor recreation and leisure space shall be provided <br /> for each residential-onlv or mixed-use proiect containin� residential uses. <br /> B. General Residential Open Space Reauirements. <br /> 1. Minimum open space required. The reauired minimum amount of open space shall be <br /> 125 square feet per unit.
