InlroducNon <br /> Assignment <br /> Fountain Square Development West is praposing to build an assisted living facility that will <br /> provide care for seniors. �he proposed site is located at 28Q8/2826 EI Camino Real in the <br /> City of Redwood City. In order to determine whether existing trees can be successfully <br /> preserved, Ralph Osterling Consultants, Inc. {ROC) was retained to assess the existing sitE <br /> tr�es and to submit a written report of its frndings. This report will a�so satisfy a condition <br /> by the Public Works Department for th� project ta submit a quaiified Arbori5t Report. <br /> urv M th s <br /> A visual assessment of the trees was made from the ground. No samples were collected <br /> for laboratory analysis, the trees were nat climbed and a root collar examination was not <br /> performed as these tasks were not part of the assignment. <br /> The trees were affixed with blue numerical aluminum tags far reference purposes in the <br /> report and tree locat�ons or�the site map provided by Gates and Associates. The <br /> numerical tags were generally a�Fixed on the north side of the trunk approximately five to <br /> six feet above grade when physically possible. Trunk diameters of trees were measured <br /> with a diameter tape at a height between six inches and 36 inches from the existing <br /> �rade as per Chapter 35 of the Municipal Code for the City of Redwood City. <br /> Observatlons and Discussion <br /> On 27 February 2012, ROC visited 2808/282fi EI Camino Real in Redwood City. According <br /> the site map in RQC's possession,the site is composEd of at least two parcels. Th� parcel <br /> facing EI Camino Real has two structures; a restaurant now vacant and a Jewelry Store <br /> currently in operation. To the rear of this parcel is the second lot which appears relatively <br /> undisturbed and with no permanent structures. Existing trees were observed to be in a <br /> state af disrepair. These trees were recently tagged by an unknown entity. <br /> A total of 26 trees were assessed.
