new street trees. A 10-foot landscaped setback would separate the building from the southern
property line. The courtyard will open to the south but would be enclosed with a six-foot wrought-
iron fence. To the north, the building will be setback 10 feet from the back of the sidewalk. Similar
to the El Camino Real frontage, this setback will be landscaped and new street trees will be planted.
A small, fenced patio will be located within the landscaped area.
The parking lot would be accessed by a single driveway on Oakwood Avenue. The main entrance to
the building would be from the parking lot. Lighting in the parking lot would be a combination of
pole lights and perimeter landscape lighting with a maximum light level of one foot candle. Lighting
on-site will be designed to meet City standards and will be shielded to avoid light spillover onto the
adjacent right-of-ways and adjacent properties.
Kensington Assisted Living Facility Project 7 Initial Study
Redwood City Apri12013
