An acoustical analysis is required for projects that are exposed to an
exterior Ldn of 60 dBA or greater to show how the interior noise level requirement would be
achieved. Title 24 standards are enforced through the building permit process in the City of
Redwood City.
4.12.1.3 Existing Noise Environment
The project site is located on the west side of El Camino Real between Oakwood Avenue and Renato
Court in the City of Redwood City. The project site is surrounded by a combination of commercial
buildings and both single-family and multi-family residential. Vehicular traffic noise on El Camino
Real is the predominant noise source affecting the project site.
Based on the noise contours in the General Plan24,noise levels on the project site range from 60 to 75
dBA. The portion of the site nearest El Camino Real has noise levels of 70 to 75 dBA and the
westernmost area have noise levels of 60 to 65 dBA. These noise levels are anticipated to remain
consistent though the year 2030.zs
z4 Redwood City General Plan,Figure PS-ll:2010 Existing Noise Contours
zs Redwood City General Plan,Figure PS-12:2030 Projected Noise Contours
Kensington Assisted Living Facility Project 66 Initial Study
Redwood City Apri12013
