6.1.B. - Page 2
JJR Construction, Inc. $139,379.75
Ray's electric $144,598.00
Breneman Inc. $153,576.00
Engineer's Estimate $130,000.00
The apparent low bid was determined based on the Total Bid. The total bid of
$139,379.75 from JJR Construction, Inc. is 7.2% greater than the engineer's estimate of
$130,000.00 for the cost of construction. Based upon the bids received, staff believes
that the low bid of $139,379.75 is reasonable and recommends awarding the contract to
JJR Construction, Inc.
Construction will begin in July and conclude in August. Notification of the proposed
work will be mailed to area residents and Henry Ford School on or around June 4, 2013.
Project updates will also be available on the City's website.
ALTERNATIVES
Council may choose not to award the contract and direct staff to redesign and/or rebid
this project.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds under Gas Tax Construction Fund for Pedestrian Crosswalk Warning Light
Program has been previously approved and appropriated with an available balance of
$371,395.15. Balances are preliminary as of April 30, 2013.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
As the lead agency, City of Redwood City has determined that the Massachusetts
Avenue and Arizona Way Intersection Improvements Project meets the CEQA
exemption criteria as set forth in Section 15302, ("Replacement or Reconstruction").
Furthermore, this project has been designed compliant with the city's Engineering
Standards and accepted practices.
ATTACHMENT
Project Location Map
RELATED DOCUMENTS IN CITY CLERK'S OFFICE
1.
