6.3.C. - Page 2
will be published in three languages since we are a tri-lingual county. It is recommended
to the Council that candidates choosing to have a candidate statement will pay the
estimated cost of $564.91.
For those interested in running for office of City Council the nomination period will be
between July 15 and August 9, 2013. However, the extended filing period ends on
August 14, for a period of 5 days (EC 8022). Nomination papers are available through
the City Clerk only.
The City Council will certify the November 5, 2013 election at its Special City Council
Meeting of December 9, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. and the incoming Council Members will take
office at the Regular City Council Meeting of December 9, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. as per City
Charter § 5 and 9.
ALTERNATIVES
The City Council could elect to conduct its own elections but this would dramatically
increase the costs to the City and to candidates.
FISCAL IMPACT
There will be a cost to the election, and this cost depends on multiple factors. The
approximate cost per registered voter could be between $2.00 and $2.25. As of May
13, 2013 the number of registered voters in Redwood City was 36,222. Funds have
been budgeted in the FY 13-14 to this end.
AVAILABLE IN THE CITY CLERK'S OFFICE
Agreement with the County of San Mateo
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
Not a project under CEQA.
I ;;1
rr 1
SILVIA VONDERLINDEN
CITY CLERK

ROBERT B.
