This recommendation is primarily due to projected increases in the cost of wholesale
water from the City and County of San Francisco attributed to a$4.3 billion upgrade to the Hetch-Hetchy
regional water supply system. Additionally, the City's water rates support the operation and maintenance
of the City's water system, including labor, replacement and improvements (capital projects) for the water
system, and the cost of support provided by other City departments.
The proposed dates for the water rate increases are: August 1, 2013, July 1, 2014 and July 1, 2014.
• Increase monthly residential Basic Service Charge from $22.00 to $23.98, effective August 1, 2013;
from $23.98 to $26.13, effective July 1, 2014; and from $26.13 to $28.49, effective July 1, 2015.
• Increase residential consumption rates as follows:
, ,

 -
. ... -. ... -. ... -.
.- . .- . .- . .-
0-10 units $2.93 $3.20 $3.49 $3.80
11-25 units $3.72 $4.05 $4.42 $4.82
26-50 units $6.08 $6.63 $7.23 $7.88
51+ units $8.58 $9.35 $10.19 $11.11
• Increase monthly commercial and commercial irrigation Basic Service Charge for a 5/8" meter from
$22.00 to $23.98, effective August 1, 2013; from $23.98 to $26.13, effective July 1, 2014; and from
$26.13 to $28.49, effective July 1, 2015.
• Increase monthly commercial and commercial irripation Basic Service Charges for larger meters by the
same percentage as 5/8" meter increase (9%), effective August 1, 2013, July 1, 2014, July 1, 2015.
• Increase commercial water consumption rates effective August 1, 2013, as follows:
, ,

 -
. ... -. ... -. ... -.
.- . .- . .- . .-
0-15 units $3.72 $4.06 $4.42 $4.82
16+ units $6.08 $6.63 $7.22 $7.87
• Increase potable irripation water consumption rates for dedicated landscape irrigation meters
(commercial accounts and some homeowner associations) effective August 1, 2013, as follows:
. ,

 -
. ... -. ... -. ... -.
.- . .- . .- . .-
0-100% of bud et $4.78 $5.21 $5.68 $6.19
101-200% of budget $9.58 $10.44 $11.38 $12.40
>200% of bud et $14.36 $15.65 $17.06 $18.59
• Increase recvcled irriqation water consumption rates for dedicated landscape irrigation meters
(commercial accounts and some homeowners associations) effective August 1, 2013, as follows:
, .

 -
. ... -. ... -. ... -.
.- . .- . .- . .-
0-100% of consumption $4.78 $5.21 $5.68 $6.19
The amount by which water bills at any particular property will be affected by these proposed increases
depends on the size of the meter connection (in the case of commercial property) and the amount of
water consumed.
