r <br />Councilman Bury, in view of sign ordinance providin- for this type of sign, moved <br />permission be granted if operated only on F1 Camino and industrial area, and not <br />parked in any area., seconded by Councilman Granger, provided applicant agree to <br />restrictions as a condition of the permit and carried on roll call vote, Council- <br />men Bury, Granger, Keckley and Mayor Herkner voting yes, Councilmen Henderson, Peter- <br />sen, and Rossel .1.7. voting no. (MINUTE ORDER #66-102) <br />Councilman Henderson suggested that recommendation prohibiting all po.liti_cal signs in <br />the Sign Ordinance, be carried through. Council indicated proper procedure would <br />be to refer this recommendation to Sign Committee for report and recommendation. <br />(Memo 5/10/66) <br />Introduction of Ordinance removing one-way traffic restriction from Winkelbleck iAhic:h had <br />been recommended by Traffic Bureau and continued for one week to this meeting for <br />further review presented for consideration. Councilman Petersen reported he had <br />talked with main tenant on the street, the Rank of America, who had indicated their <br />opposition as twoway traffic would macre access to their drive-in window and parking <br />lot a problem. <br />Mr. Al Oneta, Manager of this Branch, outlined problems <br />which would be involved should two-way street be allowed. H <br />reviewed their case of ten years ago when Bank of America <br />had offered to give 1.0' for widening if Winklebleck were <br />allowed to be a two -gray street. <br />City Manager stated Traffic Bureau made recommendation to change to two-Iolay street <br />for better traffic circulation, and the one-way restriction no longer needed since <br />median barrier construction on .El Camino. Police Chief stated slight hazards <br />existed, which could be corrected by chatter bars at entrance to keep Northbound <br />cars from marring righthand turn. Councilman Granger moved to remove this item from <br />the Agenda, seconded by Councilman KeckleY and carried. (MINUTE ORDER #66-10:x) <br />Report on present status of pornographic book stores in Redwood City. <br />Councilman Rosselli asked for this report as public should be kept aware of this <br />issue in view of City-wide protest it had once caused, and felt Council Committee <br />should give a status report. <br />Councilman Bury, stating he was only member left on this Committee, reported all <br />three stores were gone from the City and that due to continued activity of Police <br />Department, and District Attorneys office this was made possible. City ,attorney <br />reviewed recent legal action which indicated a slight change in feeling in getting <br />convictions for sale of this type of material. Councilman Bury felt individuals in <br />community who actively participated in this campaign helped raise moral level of <br />community. <br />College Site Committee Report. Councilman Rosselli stated Committee had met twice with <br />recommendations being made that Council take all steps necessary to conduct a success- <br />ful campaign to get college site in Edgewood Hills; authorize and sponsor City-wide <br />campaign to include all groups and organizations; establish a spealier's bureau. <br />announcinm Councilman Petersen had been appointed Chairman of this -Bureau, and also <br />recommendinfr C(-)unci.l authorize the hiring of professional consultants to direct and <br />coordinate City's program.
