He reported further on the work to be done by Challenge as part of the <br />Farm Hill Estates No. 2 and specific work College had agreed to do, college already <br />having gone out to bid for gradin; and site preparation, with fill material from <br />site to be used as portion of road bed for Farm Hill Boulevard extension. <br />He further reviewed provisions contained in the proposed participation agreement <br />on division of work to be performed. He .reported on the action filed by the <br />College against the Canada Water District for declaratory relief, now in hands of <br />District Attorney, as they preferred to be served by Redwood City. He reported on <br />change of figures for participation by Oddstad Estate because of no sewer, water, <br />and restricted access being applied. City Manager stated Staff recommends proposal <br />as presented be submitted to Council for review and study and item be placed on <br />Council's agenda in two weeks for action. <br />Councilman Rosselli questioned lack of participation by Woodside, reviewed the <br />positive stand taken by Redwood City in attempts to aid establishment of college <br />at this site in spite of the problems which would result. Councilman Petersen <br />expressed his concurrence with opinions expressed by Councilman Rosselli. Coun- <br />cilman Bury favored proceeding with project, as Council's previously expressed <br />policy was to encourage the college construction in spite of Woodside's apparent <br />lack of agreement on benefits to be derived. City Manager stated Staff had pro- <br />ceeded to this point w--"th the understanding that Council was favorable to esta- <br />blishing college on this site and emphasized the point City's contribution had not <br />been increa.ti.ed by virtue of j%doodside's lack of contribution. Councilman Henderson <br />felt Council should reaffirm its support of establishment of college, terminate <br />the discussion concerning Woodside's failure to contribute until a detailed report <br />and study could be made of the proposed agreement. <br />Mr,. Fasanaro, Business Manager of San Mateo Junior <br />College, spoke of serious consequences to college <br />site preparations should there be further long delays <br />at this point and explained their stand on Woodside <br />contribution issue. <br />Mr. Fred Gates, 3871 Vineyard Dr., questioned quotations <br />of prorata cost previously given for this proposed con- <br />struction, and those presented at this meeting. <br />City Manager advised Mr. Gates he would be willing to meet with him for further <br />discussion of proposed project. (Memo 5/10/66) <br />Councilman Granger moved that Council reaffirm its original position in support <br />of the college, seconded by Councilman Henderson and carried, Councilman Rosselli <br />abstaining. N:)rman Peterson Co., Constractors, for <br />extension of contract completion date on Bay Road Area <br />Storm Drainage Project to May 20, 1966, because of <br />need to remedy defects in electrical equipment before <br />shipment to site. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved to grant extension of time for completion of project to <br />May 2.0, 1966, as requested, seconded by Councilman Bury and carried.
